He won the 2012 edition of the Players Championship, which is the flagship PGA Tour event. This was also his most significant tournament victory; this win propelled him to number five in world rankings. Amateur Career

Kuchar attended Georgia Tech in Atlanta where he played his collegiate golf. He lost narrowly to Tiger Woods in the 1996 edition of the U.S. Amateur championship. However, he came back the following year to take home the win; this was his last amateur event before he went professional. In 1998, he was awarded the Haskins Award for being the nation’s most outstanding collegiate golfer.

Professional Career

Matt Kuchar turned professional in 2000. He won his first PGA Tour event at the Honda Classics in 2002. Following a tough 2005 season, Kuchar lost his PGA Tour card and had to play on the Nationwide Tour in 2006. He went on to win the Henrico County Open, finished at position 10 on the Nationwide Tour, and this earned him his PGA Tour card back for the 2007 season. Five years later, the professional golfer won the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship.

The professional golfer has had an extensive golf career. He has managed to bag 2 amateur wins and 13 professional wins. Out of the 13 professional wins, 7 were from the PGA Tour. He also has a life outside of golf. He is married to Sybil Parker, a former tennis player, and they have two sons together.
